Can I have guests?
For many families, entertaining is part of cottage life. If that's the case for you, make sure the cottage you rent will accommodate the TOTAL group - guests, children, as well as your own family.

The MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY is clearly noted on the Cottage Rental Application and agreement. It is the number of people the cottage can safely accommodate with respect to septic system, pumps, etc.  Owners are very concerned about the number of people at a cottage with respect  to the wear and tear on the cottage systems, which are much more sensitive than our city dwellings.

Can I use my cell/mobile phone?
Loon Cove Cottage has full cellular coverage for those on the Bell Mobility network, however those on the Rogers and Telus network do not seem to have coverage in our area.

Hydrotherapy Spa?
The spa is cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival.  Please ensure that children only use the spa when accompanied by an adult.  We ask that you keep the temperature in the spa at 99 degrees when it is not in use and that you always put the cover on and snap the tie downs in firmly.  Care should be taken to not use any glasses or bottles around the spa.  There are plenty of plastic containers available in the kitchen. Care should be taken to always hose your feet off every time before entering the spa.  Grass and dirt will cause the filter system to become clogged and the spa will not operate.

What about fishing, boating?
Constant Lake is a great lake for fishing with pike, walleye, large and small mouth bass in plentiful supply.  Please note that we encourage catch and release fishing in our lake,  You should ensure that you have a valid fishing license even if you are going to be fishing from the dock.  Fishing licenses are available from the general store in Dacre and at many locations in Eganville and Renfrew.  Loon Cove Cottage has an easily accessible boat launch right on the property if you wish to bring your own boat.  There are two 16" foot docks that allow for mooring of your recreational water toys.

Can we use PWCs?
Personal Water Craft (Sea-Doos, Jet-Skis etc.) are permitted on Constant Lake, however they must be operated in a safe and courteous manner.  Please be sure to respect the privacy and shorelines of our neighbours.

Can I drink the water at the cottage?
Loon Cove Cottage is equipped with a state of the art water supply system.  Our water supply comes from a drilled well and is 100% drinkable and is equipped with a Culligan water softening system.

The septic system?
As with all country residences, Loon Cove Cottage is equipped with a septic system.  Please ensure that absolutely no feminine hygiene products, paper towels, or food are flushed down the toilet as this will cause the septic system to back up.  If you are unsure if something can be put down into the septic system, it most likely can't!!!!  THE ONLY THING YOU SHOULD BE PUTTING INTO THE TOILETS IS TOILET PAPER.  It should be noted that if you put something into the toilets that causes a blockage, you will be held responsible for the costs.

What do we do with our garbage?
Cottage Life is very different than life in the city. Everything you bring up to the cottage has to be disposed of, one way or another, including garbage.  At Loon Cove Cottage, you have to bring your garbage to the local dump - and a dump pass may be required. The hours of operation and directions for the local dump can be found in the Rental Application and Agreement form.  Our cottage is equipped with a kitchen trash compactor and this greatly aids in reducing in the amount of trash.

The most important thing to remember is NEVER leave garbage outside unless it's in a metal or wood container. If you can't get to the dump on your last day - please take your garbage with you.

Firewood
There is a supply of firewood on site at Loon Cove Cottage.  Please note that the firewood is the property of the owners and should not be used under any circumstances.  There is a fire pit outside adjacent to the lake, and this should only be used when the wind is blowing out towards the lake and not towards the cottage. (you should supply your own wood if you wish to use the fire pit.)

Safe boating regulations.
The Federal government produces a "Safe Boating Guide" we encourage all renters to read.  It covers the safety equipment required in ALL watercraft (including paddle boats and canoes) and covers the new Operator Competency Requirements that are being phased in over the next few years.  Since 2002, all operators of  motorized watercraft under 4 meters have been required to have on board, proof of competency. And there are age restrictions for youth in place now.  Safe Boating is Everyone's Business...

What about cottage life of the four-legged kind?
Or eight-legged for that matter - both flying and crawling, and scurrying animal and bug life, are a part of Cottage Country.....   Life out there is usually pretty different from life down here in the city - after all - that's why you're going on vacation right?  So relax - read a book - maybe a book on cottage country wild life - and remember that most critters are more frightened of you than you are of them. (please do not leave food outside)

Getting to the cottage?
We pay to maintain the road into the cottage Winter and summer.  In the summer access is easy and the road is quite good.  Care should always be taken to drive slow and watch for children.  In the winter the road is in good shape as well, however we recommend the use of a 4wd vehicle if possible.
